Thank god a ban on organophosphate pesticides is coming to Isreal. These products are cholinesterase inhibitors--as are a variety of other popular insecticide products used not only in agriculture but in HOME and Commericial pest control applications. (also of the type now implicated in bee disorders). Sarin, soman and some other nerve gases are also much more powerful cholinesterase inhibitors--which prevent a synapse from closing or shutting down after firing. The kidneys and livers of normal people will process and eliminate a certain amount of the chemical. But for people who lack the enzyme paraoxanse, the effects of usually tolerated amounts can be devastating. Ironically, these products were invented by the Germans for use in gassing non-aryans.
