    Gideon, thank you for this article. Your word choice here perfectly describes what is so corrupt about the occupation. Humiliation of Palestinians is tolerated, excused and routine. So much so that Aluf Benn uses the banality of the occupation to deny its corruptive effect on the soldiers who carry it out. His denial is, in fact, the best proof of its existence. Reading Benn yesterday I wanted to scream; but to quote David Grossman, despair is not a luxury we can afford.
