I think Israel cannot even think of comparing itself with other countries. Denmark is an old very old nation/kingdom. About Holland I know a little more: it has an ugly history of colonialism and its racists policies are not new: it denies itself to recongnize the horrible truths of what it did in its colonies ( as many of the European countries they still see themselves as superiors). What will the author say about antisemitism in those countries: that is part of their history and so it is imbued in their history. So racism is good when it comes to nation building?? Do not say that outloud because the Jews of the diaspora will feel the consequences. But concerning racism, yes Israel has parallels with Holland. This kind of reasoning springs from the mindset that implies that "nation" and "democracy" are universal categories that can be applied at any time and any circumstances. WEll, they are not: they are the result of particular histories. In this case the horrible colonialist, imperialist racists European past: it was thanks to what Europe did in the other continents that the Europeans could develop their institutions and what they call "civilization". Israel is doing in the XX and XXI century what Europe did in the XIX. With the aggravation that it impossed itself in aforeing territory: which makes it even more cruel for the natives.
