The problem is that very few people are aware of the background of Zionism in eastern european nationalsim and the support for the Revisionist movement by the Polish governmetn in the 1930's. The correct analogue to many present day actions by the Israeli government is not either Nazi Germany not Apartheid South Africa but rather interwar Estern Europe and the treatment of the Jewish and other minorities there. The problem is both that the place and period are beyond the ken of most commentators and that while nasty they never reached the level to receive opprobrium in the rest of the world.
