Why do most Israelies think that Avrum Burg left israel to settle in France? I can assure you that Mr Burg never left, and does not intend to leave anytime soon. Some of his children are serving in elite units and this despite the recent criticism on his book that most of you (myself included) haven't read yet.On the contrary when I read his articles I see a real patriote who never changed his course any bit (He has always advocated for a strong separation between State and Religion). He wants to see a new future for Israel, based on a set of ideas which are the core to Jewish values. It might sound naive and there might be some misplaced coparaisons however it was time to have a leader setting a new way of thinking within the Israeli society. This rethinking, on what will happen at the moment Israel will be strong enough to live outside the fear of near future destruction, has never taken place. It takes a lot of courage to go against an entire establishement.

IfNotNow doesn’t deserve the support of left-leaning Jews

IfNotNow and its co-founder Simone Zimmerman challenge U.S. Jews to end the occupation. But they won't answer this basic question: Do you support a Jewish and democratic state in Israel, alongside a Palestinian state? And if not, why not?
