MK Shlomo Molla has suddenly found a champion of human rights in Avigdor Lieberman and Bibi Naethanyu and Eli Yishai. So be it! From one whose family also came from Russia and who has been committed to Ethiopian Aliyah and is committed to finding a humane solution to the refugee problem, Avi Shimhon is stating some painful truths about racism in this country. Mr. Mollah may want nothing to do with African refugees, because God Forbid, there should be no mistaken identities between "them" and "us", but he knows what awful discrimination Ethiopian Jewry face in this country today, based on color and not religion. The fact that Russian Aliyah was white and European made it a hell of allot easier for them to be accepted into mainstream. It wasn't easy, but there were no cries of "disease and pollution and danger" to the Jewish existance of our nation by a PM no less. And Shimhon is right. Many who come from Israel from countries which have oppressed their people are looking for a better quality of life. Zionism comes later. Socioeconomic survival comes first. There is nothing wrong with that. Fire Avi Shimhon? He should get an immediate raise and then be granted The Israel Prize for speaking the truth and addressing the problem of non Caucasion non European existence in this country. Fire those 50 racist Rabbis, and the MK's who support them. Find a benign and concrete way to integrate and/or relocate the refugees, but keep Avi Shimhon.
