I cannot understand people such as yourself who absolutely refuse to part with a set of blinkers which blinds them to reality. What, in all honesty, have the settlements got to do with 1. Abbas' rejection of Olmert's offer (a very generous one that would have given the Palestinians 97% of the WB plus 5% of Israel) and his assertion that 'the gap between us was too wide'; 2. Hamas - and Fatah's - refusal to accept Israel as a Jewish state 3. Hamas - and Fatah's - insistence on 'redeeming Palestine through violent struggle'. And so on. Really, how abtuse can anyone be? To paraphrase Clinton, it's not the settlements, stupid.
