Uri Avenry is nothing but a communist loon who doesn't represent mainstream politics in Israel and he has only a cult foloowing even on the left.. He is so far to the left that he makes Meretz look like radical the radical far right. Even before 1948 his vision was not an independent Jewish state it was what we call today a binational one which rather than being independent is part of a federation with arabs and to him zionism was always about finding a safe haven for persecuted european and Jews and not an ideology so more so anything he believes should be tarn with pinch of salt. When he dies he won't be remembered as a national hero which his small number of supporters think he is. Its one thing for Busrtson to question IF Israel will be around in 90 years but on what justifiable grounds can he question if Israel SHOULD exist in 90 years. What if I questioned if America should exist in 90 years I wonder what his reply would be if I asked should his homeland America exist in 90 years? would be more interested in what the arab world will be like in 90 years. Thanks to the arab winter they are already tearing themselves apart but behind that what happens when the world stops using fossil fuels? Its oil thats made the arabs rich not their culture or business skill, I would imagine that in 90s years the world will no longer use fossil fuels so why will anybody care about arabs anymore, they have nothing to offer anymore. In the real world countries don't have friends, they form temporary alliances which last only as long as its mutually beneficial if the arabs are not needed they will be dumped. Israel might not have any playboy princes with private yaughts but unlike the arabs it has a robust economy. Israel has a diverse economy and its mainly built around brain power and business. If your economy is diverse and its buit around brain power it can survive a changing world whilst a country like Saudi Arabia cannot.
