The Azzam Brigades might be doing the dirty work but have a feeling Assad is the man pulling the strings. If they are working for Assad it would explain why out of the blue this group suddenly decided to fire rockets. If Assad can provoke Israel into invading Lebanon then the protestors in Syria will turn their anger towards Israel rather than Assad who would be condemning it. Assad might even send a limited number of Syria troops into Lebanon, let the entire Arab world see Assad, the man who they have just expelled from the Arab League sending his troops to protect Lebanon. When its all over if Assad is lucky he will be a hero but if not at the very least the momentum for regime change will have ended so he can stop killing people and his position will be secure. The Arab League will invite him back and everybody is a winner except Israel and Lebanon.
