First things first. Huge props to Mr. Stenger for writing the only constructive (read: no SLES) leftist article I can remember recently. I hope together with Mr. Stenger that all the Jewish/Israeli leftists would start to argue that pragmatically. That's whty the Jewish/Israeli right has always criticized. You won't find a rightist article that does not back his opinions up with empirical evidence. But Mr. Stenger fails to deliver. Claiming that the occupation and the settlements needs to stop without backing that assessment up with empirical evidence is just SLES. If Stenger is sincere about being liberal, he would counterargue the rightist empirical argument that ending the occupation and settlements while the enemy does not recognize your right to exist turns out bad (Gaza Strip, Southern Lebanon), while doing the same with actors that do recognize it, turn out good (Egypt). So please Stenger, Haaretz and all other leftists and "liberals", provide Jewry and Israel with your substantive counterarguments
