This is something that Israel seems to recognize, and yet more often than not chooses NOT to. Meanwhile, Israel's activities and responses begin to spawn a new bunch, likely to be more radical than Hamas, and the cycle repeats! One would think that it would behoove Israel to cultivate Hamas BEFORE its overshadowed by a more radical group - instead of attacking it consistently - and seek to empower it to nip them in the bud...instead of empowering THEM by clipping the wings of Hamas(like Sharon empowered Hamas by clipping Arafat's wings!). I think the IDF recognizes all this - but Israel's politicians are too busy playing politics to even consider it!
