Yael Patir, Israel director of the left-leaning U.S. Jewish body, sat down with Haaretz to talk about Trump, the gap between U.S. and Israeli Jews, and the growing anger at the Israeli peace camp. Though she concedes boycott efforts by some on the left have a negative effect, she rejects calls to keep peace efforts local.01:12 01.05.16 | 4 comments
Dear Gideon Levy, You have strong accusations of Netanyahu but your words are less balanced than his. You have strong accusations of his audience but they were simply responding to some greater-picture truths: The Iranian threat is real, security needs are real, Israel's side in the democracy-autocracy divide is real. Beware that you, and your fellow writers in Haaretz, are not losing sight of the big picture a little bit, and asking for perfection on behalf of Israel that does not match the realities of the situation in the Middle East. Netanyahu is a tough negotiator - if that's what you wanted to say, then you are right.
