I'm an Israeli citizen but I am amazed at the arrogance of some of these talkbacks. I was in Jaffa in 1973 guarding a government building awaiting the arrival of the Egyptian army. I know how close we came to losing that war and the terrible toll it took on us. Now I read some of you responding with glee on war with Iran - casually dismissing anything that could go wrong or considering the toll it might take on us. A war with Iran will neither be easy, short or casualty free. It will be the costliest and dangerous war we have ever fought. It could easily end in the demise of our beloved country. We are not equipped to fight a long war as our use of reserve units will crater our economy. Iranian closure of the Straits of Hormuz with their supersonic Sunburn missiles will cause oil to run up to $200-$300/barrel damaging not only the Israeli economy but also the entire West. We are not a big enough country to occupy the surrounding countries and the payback for our bombing a muslim country will be terror and guerrilla warfare for decades to come. Our emigration problem will become a flood as the best and brightest leave for less dangerous and more fullfilling destinations. If we use nuclear weapons against Iran, not only will we become totally isolated in the world but I guarantee some day the Islamic nations will pay us back by obliterating our small country.
