There is a simple legal method to resolve this problem. Trouble is that it is unlikely to get sorted by the UK government before the election due this year. The simple step would be to ensure that any arrest under the War Crimes legislation can only be pursued if it is the Attorney General who makes the application to a Judge for a warrant. At the moment anybody can try and get a warrant although getting beyond the arrest stage is virtually impossible as that does require Attorney General involvement. Frankly the position of the UK government in not sorting out the problem is farcical and brings the good name of British justice into disrepute. Israel, regretfully, is being singled out because the activities of the Palestinian lobby are the only grouping making any moves in this area. Nice words from Baroness Scotland are not enough.
