Was there an uproar during the British occupation of Palestine? You bet! The great Arab Rising from 1936 to 1939 against the British was the largest anti-colonial uprising of the time. Britain had to pour more than 10.000 troops in to suppress the rebellion. Thousands of Palestinians were killed, imprisoned, sent into exile. The remainder of the population was disarmed, which affected the way Palestinians were able to resist the Zionist onslaught in 1948.
