Sharon's leadership, both as a politician as a soldier, was that of excessive risk taking. He let the first Lebanon war escalate in what eventually became Israel's Vietnam.,His visit to the Haram-al-Sharif was a nasty and utterly useless provocation to the Palestinians, which led to the second intifadah and an effective end to the peace process. When he started Kadima, it only aggravated the already fragmented nature of Israeli politics. To me this is not leadership, but recklesness.
