Dear Mr. Arens, It seems to me that you also suffer from an idee fixe. Did you not express until recently (and perhaps still do) your objection to the disengagement from Southern Lebanon? I forget the reasons you gave, but they actually don't matter since they are refuted everyday by reality. Likewise, you object to the Gaza disengagement for reasons that will be proven invalid. The disengagement had to take place from these two areas because Israel tried to bite something it couldn't swallow. It is better to spit it out now rather than be choked to death later. Israel has to pay some price for this mistake. The price is a temporary encouragement to the Palestinian resistance. We are paying now for your past mistakes; yours and your Likud friends, among them Sharon. Sharon , as you say, also suffers from an idee fixe. In fact, the entire Likud ideology of the inviolability of the Greater Land of Israel regardless of any prevailing conditions, is an idee fixe. This is a party with no long term strategy, only a dream. Sharon, a member of this party, is likewise no strategist. But at least he does the right thing now.

Why this liberal Zionist now supports BDS

Calling the occupation 'unsustainable' is how liberal Zionists ease their conscience and excuse their timidity, by telling themselves it can’t last. But it will last – unless we start acting more like radicals.
