Arens believes the only solution to the problem is a military one. He sees this confloct as an existential struggle between good and evil, between two nationalisms that will never be able to co-exist. He seems to overlook the fact that qassams were being fired at Sderot when his seemingly invincible IDF was present in Gaza in force. There is no military solution. I truly think that if one were to follow Arens to his own logical conclusion, he would see the only solution being mass expulsion. Trade to Gazans to Egypt with Israel paying Egypt so much per head. That is where his logic leads. The qassams will stop when the occupation stops and the Palestinians have their nation. If conflict continues then let it be between nation and nation.
