It may have been true that there were more Jews in the USA say twenty thiiry years ago, but eighty percent of close to seven and half million puts the Jewish population of Israel at over six million, and there are less than that in the USA. Then too,, in spite of the agreement that the Old Man made with the Chazon Ish, over the following twenty years Mapai and its henchmen did what they could, within the law, and in some cases breaking the law to coerce the Jews for whom Jewish traditions wre precious, to become Secular and Socalist, and in some cases reject whatever was important to them in terms of Judaism. That the Haredim have been given the authority does not mean that many Secularist Jews go along with it, and . . . they choose to opt out of their "solutions". Then too, you can eat snails and pork in Tel Aviv, Haifa, and even Jerusalem. I recall that when Chabad wanted to set up a storefront adjacent to a butcher shop that sold non-kosher meat, the village council of Kfar Shmaryahu told Chabad such a storefront might be inciteful. That and many more instances of Secularists finding ways to prevent Haredim, and not just, from expressing their preferences occured, Hate to say it, but turnabout is fair play, sometimes, no?
