"Good people hoped that the withdrawal from the Gaza Strip was a down payment on a withdrawal from the West Bank". I suppose that these are the ideological descendants of those who saw the removal of the ostenjuden out of Germany's borders as a down payment towards a better life (but for whom?). Shouldn't it give us modern Israelis chills when someone promotes the expulsion and ruination of a sector of their fellow citizens as only the "down payment" to the disposition of that entire sector?
