The Israeli commenters who don't accuse Hawking of anti-Semitism invariably assume that Hawking folded under pressure from BDS activists, or like Or Kashti, that coming to Israel was just a bit too bothersome. Its incredible that so many Israelis (and their supporters) seem unable to actually accept that Hawking choose to decline Peres' invitation because he is opposed to Israel's treatment of the Palestinians. You may not agree with Hawking's actions but why pretend, even to yourselves, that Hawking was either pressured not to come or found it just too bothersome given the BDS movement?
