Becuse of tactics used by politicians archeolgy is either destroyed or its not permited to look for. The destruction of archology on the Temple Mount because of illigal digging by the waqf and the Israeli government is unwilling to get involved because of politics is allowing more and more archolgy to be destroyed and certainly if Olmert hands the site over to the palestians or even Jordan the destruction will only increase as a blind eye is turned to the attempts to destroy any evidence of this being a site holy to jews. Now we have this and its only a matter of time before Olmert agrees to end excevation of the Western Wall tunnels because of fear it will upset the palestians as it did when excavation work began. Who knows maybe work on the Kotel will be off limits soon. If there is a worry that simple archology shouldnt happen before the summit because of a fear of sparking riots then then prehaps the politcal conditions are not yet right for a summit at all.
