There is a video clip on YouTube of Arafat giving a press conference and in it he says he is willing to accept a palestinian state and a Jewish state. Its funny the way he has to force himself to say jewish state but he says it. if Arafat says he is willing to recognise Israel as a jewish state why not Abbas who is the so called moderate? Fact is Abbas is not serious about peace talks because he wants to use his new UN upgrade to go to the UN get the General Assembly to pass a resolution giving him a state which includes all the demands he is making of Israel now and more. That also increases his chances of getting resolution 192 on right of return implemented. Israel is within its rights to refuse a GA resolution but if support for it is big enough Abbas will start demanding individual countries pass resolutions against Israel until it accepts the resolutions. Abbas just need to go to be able to walk away from talks looking like the victim so he can say the UN was the last resort not preferred choice. The man is getting even more hardline in his demands by the day knowing full well Bibi cannot accept most of them and hold his coalition together

from the article: Before Abbas recognizes the Jewish state, Israel must define it
