I think that not enough is being said about Arafat's role in cutting the legs out from under the peace process. I, and many others, were fooled into believing he sincerely wanted peace. His refusal of Barak's and Clinton's offer in 1999 made it clear that he was a shameless liar from head to toe. I often read postings by people who claim that the Israeli offer was not that generous but offered only a few scattered pieces if land. Please read Dennis Ross' "The Missing Peace". He was part of the Camp David neqotiation process. In the first few pages of the book you will see a map that Arafat presented as the offer made side-by-side with a map of the actual offer made. Arafat's claims turn out to be a pure fabrication. Of course, these maps will not change the minds of those people (many) who will continue believing the lie. Arafat was very clever in knowing and manipuplating the fact that people can be made to believe anything. There are none so blind as he who will not see.
