It would be absurd to suggest that Hamas' success in the last elections was a reaction to "Israel extreme right goverments" given that it occured after the Gaza withdrawals and Sharon's forcefully confronting and evacuating the settlers. I think that it was partially a reaction to perceived Israeli weakness and the extreme corruption of Abu Mazen & Co. Iran hard liners actually came to power during the liberal Carter administration perhaps also due perceived US weakness and due to Carter's shared contempt for the Shah's regime. It had nothing to do with neo-cons. Regarding Iraqi insurgents, technically they were provoked by the neo-con invasion of Iraq but the insurgents came in several "colors", Baathists, Sunni extremists, Shiite extremists and Iraq didn't explode previously due to the cruelly oppressive Ba'ath dictatorship.
