from the editors. the voters did not reject the so-called right-wing policies. likud beiteinu and bennet received almost the same number of mandates as they did 4 years ago, the distribution is different. lapid clearly said that he's for building in existing settlements and against division of jerusalem. if this makes him 'left-wing' in haaretz's eyes, so be it. lapid received that many votes to represent a sane middle class 'right' that was neglected by the likud because of its alliance with shas and aguda. these voters a fed up of being taken for granted, but in no way are they left-wing.
