But you see there is an elephant in the room. The government of Israel is in controlled of the right wing fanatics whose combination of ultra religion with ultra nationalism is toxic and not open to any degree of compromise. Consecutive Israeli governments, including Labor, have engendered and carefully culitvated this element and now they hold the reins. If they are not placated, then they will cause a level of social implosion that Israel has not seen since its founding. We have seen from the recent debacle that took place in Washington that Israel is not willing to budge. It prefers the acquisition through any means of more land and dispossession. Nothing else matteres and they will justify this by their usual retreat into a "all the world is aganst us anyway" response. The problem, in the eyes of this government, is never theirs but always something external. It will increase Israel's sense of isolation not bring it closer to the tablke and that is just what these fanatics want.
