It cost 114 deaths to reach Litani, and that 20x20km area is far from being under IDF control. Should they stay there ? Are you prepared for deaths every day ? And what border is the Litani ? It can be WALKED thru by an armed soldier. Would Israel be safe ? How many deaths each night would the Litani frontier be worth ? Or advance further ? How far ? Till Ba'albeck ? How many reservists ? 30,000 ? 50,000 ? How to secure those expanded borders then ? And how many billions the costs - ammo, wounded, deaths, souring economy ? Before condemning Olmert, think of alternatives more realistic than "beat them": You CAN'T beat a guerilla of a 2 million population. That's finally why IDF in 2000 left. That's what Halutz the dreamer thought would be feasible. It is not. Not without a years long campaign of tens of thousands at billions of costs and tens of thousands of deaths. Say thank you to Olmert that he saved Israel from this catastrophy. Or what would be realistic ?
