Remember what I have been saying in comments to most posts like this: The United States views Israel as a key ally in the region, and they have veto power within the UN. For those seeking UN recognition of Palestine, and of right of return, the problem is really one of Quantity over Quality. Even if there is a majority of nations that support it, there would be ones against it with veto power, such to prevent any sort of military or political action, or economic sanctions. Should it come to this, the United States would veto political or military action against Israel. This is part of why I am an advocate of direct negotiations. The UN is useless in this conflict.
