Defeat? I do not see any defeat at all. When Israel has started the war, they had few goals to achieve. Due to the strong israelian army, you could think that the Hezbollah can be destroyed, but, Israel has used only a small part of its army and if the goal can be achieved without a big war, this will be a very big political victory, despite the regretable death of many of our soldiers and citizens. The Hezbollah cannot start again what they have done. Half of Lebanon has been destroyed with more than 10 billions of $ dammage. The hezbollah will have to move to the north and maybe, at a further stage, they will have to give up their army. Is it a victory for the Hezbollah? NO, it is a political victory for Israel. Victory is not thousands of dead enemy soldiers. Victory is the achievement of your goals.

Why we don't know how to pick our leaders

Our craving for ideology means that we are partial to ideological leaders. But we need leaders who will make smart decisions that are aligned with the public interest.
