piece by piece. "The Stern Gang was a minority" The worst forms of violence are usually conducted by minorities. Islamic Jihad is also a minority. Isrel supported the methods of the Haganah and Palmach who were the agencies which did most of the ethnic cleansing from the palestinian villages of the Galil and Triangle. They were alos responsible for razing hundreds of villages in their attempt to erase the historical presence of the Arab population and culture in Palestine. "Having said that, they were acting in desperation with a british exclusion of Jewish fugitives from Europe and the need to retaliate for Arab massacres of Jews..." I agree with your accessment of the British. As colonialists they were playing their usual game of playing both ends of the stick. As for desperation..I also agree that the Jewish remanants coming from Europe were desperate and had little choice, but it is as the young Egyptian journalist who braved a visit to Israel before there waas peace between countries said: The situation was like a house on fire (Europe and the Jews) and the people inside had no choice but to jump out of the simdow but in doing so, they fell on the pedestrians and injured them rather than attackaing the people that had set the house on fire. The Arabs of palestine felt the very country being pulled out from under their feet without any country to come to their aid or assistance in protecting their rights.
