"The assumption that there will be no American victory in Iraq is growing stronger." - Ze'ev Schiff Define 'victory'? The only way Iraq will not end up with a Shiite controlled government is for the US overthrow the government and impose colonial rule. That would just mean an endless war. There is no "American victory" possible. "On the other hand, a Shi'ite victory over the Sunnis seems likely." - Ze've Schiff Sound assumption. "If there is such a victory, it will have a profound effect on the region, Israel included." - Ze'ev Schiff Kind of makes you wonder what was going on in the brains of the men who started the war. "If withdrawal is interpreted by the Arabs as a sign of American defeat, we can look forward to a radical Arab shift that will strengthen all the extremists around us." - Ze'ev Schiff Thus Americans should continue endless war in Iraq for the sake of Israel? There is no possible US 'victory' the only question is when we cut our losses.
