"The american veto in the Security Council took great effort to achieve". Yes. And now (something I mentioned in a comment just after the veto) there is going to be a "pay back-period". If this were the "best of all possible worlds", then there would be clear laws and permits and and orderly process. It would be a legal process, in accordance with the norms of a decent state that adheres to the rule of law. But.......this is the worst of all worlds. It´s politics. It´s disputed area. The standards and ideals no longer apply. This has enabled radical people to erect "outposts". Would Netanyahu accept an outpost next to the Menorah outside the Knesset? No, are you crazy? But an outpost outside Nablus is ok. Then all of a sudden things change. The dynamics of diplomacy forces Netanyahu to show Obama that he is grateful. It´s pathetic. It is corruption. It´s arbitrary and unpredictable, everything that a democratic state shouldn´t be. As long as this continues, as long the dispute remains unsolved, then the erosion of our democracy and morals och values and the rule of law will not only continue - the "amazing trickery and awesome flip-flopping" will one day be the straw that breaks the camels back/causes our democracy irreversible damage.
