is there any other country in the world where a citizen, a journalist, would compare his country to an obsolete aircraft carrier to be "junked?" oren does not simply criticise some aspects of israel's policies. to the contrary, he questions the very existence of the jewish state. of course, it has become fashionable to trash one's counrty. yet, to state that the country is obsolete and needs to be "junked" is unusual, to say the least. it must be added that there is no attempt to actually analyse the issue of israel's strategic value to the us. if, as oren says, israel has no strategic value to the us, what chance is there that israel and the six million jews who live in the state will survive?
