It seems every leftist article on a solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict claims that Israel must negotiate on and from Palestinian terms. Why so? The last time I looked the Palestinian economy was in shambles, the Palestinians were close to a civil war, and they were very much internationally isolated. The fence has done much to reduce the threat of Palestinian attacks and for them, negotiating leverage. In a conflict one side must clearly win in order to end a dispute. It seems articles like this simply encourage the Palestinians to hold out false hopes and irresponsible dreams of things not to come. They will come to a negotiating table only by facing reality and irreversible facts, not by leftist commentators continuing to put the keys to houses in Jaffa, Haifa, and elsewhere on the negotiating table.
