The story that you ran from Haaretz.com claiming that Abbas praised the released terrorists as heroes is the most important story of the year. If Abbas is truly supporting, praising or agreeing with terrorism, then the entire idea of negotiations between Palestine and Israel have much less of chance of success than ever previously envisioned. It is important to note that 1. There is no supporting video or even a tape recording of the alleged Abbas speech. 2. There is no author or reporter associated with the alleged news piece. 3. That the only news service that showed up for such an important event was Haaretz.com. This appears on its face to be incredible 4. That important news sources such as the NYT and the WP rejected the story as not being properly substantiated. Either the NYT and Washington Post is inappropriately censoring the news or the Haaretz.com story was judged to lack sufficient credibility.

Sanctions did not devastate South Africa or Iran. Nor will they destroy Israel; above all it will extricate Israel from a trap it is unable to get out of by itself.
