    Jewish identity is indeed linked to the land of Israel, but not necessarily to the modern state named Medinat Israel. Exile is exile whether a Jew lives in the United States or in Israel. To me, therefore, it is irrelevant what the Israeli "intelligensia" thinks about Jews living outside the borders of Medinat Israel. One would only wish that the State of Israel would not be so eager to take the money from people and organizations for which they have no respect.
