The passing of the partition resolution is a classic example of one nation (the USA) bulliying and forcing others. Countries that were dependent on American aid were forced by the American government to change their position and vote in favour of partition. If it would have come to a free vote the partition resolution would not have passed. The partition resolution was unjust, forced through against the will of the majority of the people in Palestine. But then the British Mandate always was systematically slanted in favour of political Zionism. Would it made democratic institutions in Palestine then the Zionist project of creating a Jewish state would never have succeeded., The Zionists btw. only acepted partition because they knew the Palestinian Arabs were dead against it. Begin was straightforward when he said that Zionism wanted all of Palestine and more. This is borne out by today's reality on the ground.
