Akiva: I think you misunderstand the hazards of the nuclear option. The result would almost certainly be abject horror on the part of the international community and the political and economic isolation of Israel. While this doesn't seem too bad on the surface, you have to recognize that many of Israel's largest trading partners would not be able to continue to do business with the country (possible exception of the US) and the economy would fall apart. WHere the economy goes, the military is not far behind. Then those who would wish to see Israel destroyed would have their opportunity.
