I agree with you. In the Torah it does not say that those things are for men only. Women without husbands still have mezuzah on their doors. so why can we do that but not the tefillin. It is both in the same verse yet some of the lines were taken for men only. I see no reason for making this for men. I have read from Jew in the City that it may take away from our mitzvot but we only have 3 things to do. I think we can handle it. Also she said we don't do any time bound mitzvot which is not true because we light the shabbat candles and go to mikvah which is time bound.
