Dear Abu-Mazen, It should be obvious to you that neither Olmert nor the US will help you in achieving your goal of a Palestinian state with reasonable borders. The US is still attached to the Roadmap which cannot actually be implemented. (It calls for the "dismantling" of Hamas and other militias first, and you know this means civil war), and Olmert will do all and say all so that what he gives you is the "wall" as the border. Your government is under pressure, but Israel is not under pressure from the US to moderate. The US is party to the dispute now, on the side of Israel, since it counts Hamas as its enemy in the so-called "war on terror". Allowing such a partisan "moderator" is a prescription for trouble. Better forget the US an moderator. You should insist that every meeting in which the US participate should also include a European representative. The Europeans are more inclined towards diplomacy and compromise. This is their expertise, unlike the US. Make them your attorneys, as the US acts on the Israeli side.
