The need to preempt Iran and export gas to Egypt was the reason the government gave to push through its controversial plan for Israel's natural gas. Now, this reason may no longer exist.08:52 31.08.15 | 1 comments
Let Obama know that since the US vetoed this resolution, the PA will no longer cooperate with Mitchell, the US mediator, but only with Quartet mediator(s), like Tony Blair. Mediation by the US can resume only after the US changes its attitude. The US mediation is causing more damage than good, because while the US is involved, other countries, especially the EU, stay on the sidelines, and the US itself actually enables the Israeli construction in the West Bank by not applying real pressure to prevent this. I suggest Abbas should try to get Saudi Arabia to support this line and to have them tell Obama that they will make up for any financial support the US will withdraw from the PA. The fact is that the US position defies logic, and some threat may get this point into Obama's non-statesman head.
