The nukes I grew up having aimed at me were real nukes. Their designs had been tested, mostly above ground, by the Sovs and we knew they worked. We also knew they had a delivery system that worked. And growing up within a few miles of military bases ensured that we would be the first targeted and vaporized if the attack came. We did not have the luxury of living away from the primary targets, in cities far from bases or in Ivory Towers like Boston or Harvard. The Soviet nukes were real, not hashish dreams of a self-aggrandizing politician like Netanyahu.
