Israel failed under the four leaders of Likud. 1. Begin signed a peace agreement with Sadat which was to give the Palestinians "autonomy" for 5 years, after which their permanent status would be decided. But as he said, Begin had no intention to let them be free. And with his negotiating tricks he managed never to even set up the autonomy. 2. Shamir was "Mr. No" of Israel, was forced by the US to start negotiating peace at Madrid, which of course went nowhere. 3. Sharon had achance for peace with Bush's "Road Map". He subverted it by evacuating Gaza, but only in order (as revealed later) to strengthen Israel's hold on the West Bank. 4. Netanyahu was early on frightened by Obama to agree to the two-state solution. Since then he kept sabotaging the idea at every turn./ Please God, Master of the Universe, grant Your people a fifth chance for peace. Let the cop of Elijah symbolize the eternal hope for redemption.
