the media and politicians like to repeat the mantra about the illegality of the settlements. sometimes even citing the infamous GCIV art 59 (or something). too bad this isn't true. legally this argument is not supported but is an ingenious way to distort law. jews will build in ALL parts of jerusalem despite racist attempts to stop this. the arrogance of the religious in this is irrelevant. all jews go to live in these areas. sucks that racist nationionalistic aspirations aren't met with israel's compliance not to build in the city jews have seen as their spiritual and physical capital for millennia. the palestinian position is disingenuous and is only supported by sympathetic ignorance. maybe if the Arabs would've supported the partition plan in 1947 we wouldn't be in this mess and their state would SURROUND Jerusalem giving them defacto control over this area, but no. Palestinians seek to deprive Jews of a right to their own city- from buying land or settling there. Palestinians, on the other hand, should have this right?
