I agree with the writer who described the rabbinate's decision as an "own goal". With the Jewish faith in demographic jeopardy both in Israel and the US, we need to become more inclusive rather than less. Our faith has always allowed for multiple viewpionts and it pains me to see the ascendence of such an exclusive policy.
