In 1970 I was a volunteer on a Kibbutz from the UK. I asked my Israeli cousin to take me to the Knesset. Coming from England where to this day there is no ID Card, It did no occur to me to bring my UK passport. The Guard asked for Identification, I had none. He gave a look at me, and let me go in. My cousin said to me "your face is your passport" (I'm of east European decent). One could say things have changed, but not really. Just more open and aggressive.
