The United States can no more sacrifice it's national interest for Israel than Israel may sacrifice it's national interest for the United States. For the last few decades Israel has assumed that there need be no compromise between national interests. The relationship has become 100% one way. The results has been that the situation for the USA has declined badly in the region. I am NOT claiming that Israel is responsible for all of the decline of US fortune and influence in the region. It is undeniable that Israeli intransigence has been a factor. We are at a point where Israel has to make a choice. That choice depends upon what Israel wants, and Israel is a nation which has no clue what it ACTUALLY wants. Does it want everything between the sea and the Jordan? OR does it want peace with a Palestinian state? Does Israel want it all, or is it willing to compromise? If Israel wants it all, what will it do with the Palestinians? The USA cannot suffer being an accomplice to the destruction of the Palestinians. Got it?
