I don't particularly care about the 'plight of the Palestinians'. Nothing we can do will ever make them like us and plenty of them would kill me and mine without compunction. I do care about the vile behaviour of the settlers. It brings shame and disgrace upon Israel and attracts opprobrium, condemnation and hostility from other countries whose goodwill we need. The settlers are a drain on the public purse and waste the slender resources of the police and army. To teach a child to hate and harm as many settlers do is a despicable act. If the settlers want to live in Hevron let them. Take their children to be raised on secular kibbutzim and withdraw the protection of the state they so despise. Then they can fight the Palestinians to their hearts content and seize as much land as they want. If any survive the first month they can reapply for their Israeli citizenship.
