Israel is pretty democratic, the level of personal freedoms are at the western european level as long as you are a jew. Once you are an Arab, you will be out of the game. By your very existence, as said Bibi, you are a threat to the jewishness of the nation, any scrutiny is OK and you can not complain. Israel is a country where you can fill a lawsuit if you feel your privacy has been violated, that is , if you are a jew. But on the other hand, Bibi the pm can say "growing arab population is a threat" and once you call this racism, they say you are not a good citizen. What would happen if the jews in, say, France would be scrutinized more than the rest ? Openly ? What if the French Intelligence had a section called the jewish section ? Shin Bet is technically a racially motivated organization and in this manner it is similar to other organizations that existed 60 years ago in a western European country, the name of this organization and country I leave to you as a homework to find.

Why we don't know how to pick our leaders

Our craving for ideology means that we are partial to ideological leaders. But we need leaders who will make smart decisions that are aligned with the public interest.
